Volunteer Groups
More hands, more fun!
We believe in bringing people together to build homes and change lives. Come join us in this mission by having your group volunteer on the build site.
Nothing required
We provide the tools, safety equipment, experience, planning, water, bathrooms... everything! No need to fret.
Post it!
The build site contains the best team photos (and selfies for social media). We'll even give you the photos we take!
Join the community
You'll meet Habitat staff, other amazing volunteers and maybe even the family whose home you're building!
Volunteer Group FAQ
Before we can get started building, here is what we’ll need your group to do for us:
- Arrive promptly to the build site at the assigned time
- Sign Habitat’s liability waiver before starting
- Wear appropriate clothing for construction (closed-toed shoes, dress for the weather and to get dirty)
- Listen carefully to Habitat staff and respect their decisions and expertise
Here is what to expect from Habitat when your group comes to volunteer with us:
- Provide all tools/equipment and instructions
- Inform participants of safety procedures and equipment
- Have general liability and construction insurance
- Provide a restroom, as well as water, general snacks and a microwave
We typically work in the mornings (8am-12pm) to avoid the heat! For large groups that need to split up, we can have a morning and afternoon shift. We require a lunch break in the middle of the day for our staff and core volunteers. We do not have groups on site later than 4pm.
We host the majority of our groups Wednesday-Saturday. Mondays or Tuesdays can be an option, but Sundays are not.
No. You are more than welcome to coordinate lunch on the build site for your group, but we only provide water and some paper products.
