Welcome to the Women Build, where hundreds of women from across our community come together to raise money and build an entirehome for a local family. This is an annual event to support the Homeownership Program, and it’s a testament to the power of women working together to bring a family’s dream of homeownership to life.
This is not a cutesy publicity stunt; we really mean the entire home.
Teams of women volunteers come together to construct the home in traditional Habitat fashion, but it goes much deeper than simply volunteering. These teams of women are also raising money to fund the home as well as build it.
This home is built and funded 100% by women.

Everybody I talked to said they would like to do this again. We’re having a blast. I think somebody already commented that there’s been more laughter than working. That is not true! Equal parts laughter and working.

It’s a really positive environment. I think it’s great. It feels like you get to learn something new and it gets us out of the office. And we got to meet the homeowner, which is also very cool.

Meet the Hensleys! This family of seven lived in a 3-bedroom modular home full of black mold when they applied to the Homeownership Program. After moving in, their health improved, school grades went up, family conflict went down and their budget gained some desperate breathing room. Feeling blessed, they were determined to pay it forward.
